I have a day off today

at the moment. My wife is begining to pay atention to the Oscars coming up soon. I hope Avatar wins one. Also I signed up on TweetDeck. Not exactly sure how to use it but I'll figure it out.

This book "City of Pearl" is an effort to read. And to think I bought the series. The premise looked good and all and I'm about 140 pages in but man is it's tough going. I hope I can finish this by the 15th. I don't know whatto read after Pearl. I know You can never go wrong with an RA Salvatore novel.

I had a good shift at work and I got a $125 card which bosted my card output and qualified me for the bonus. I ended up with a $10 bonus and some empties of course.

Over there at Pats Fantasy hotlist I entered my name in for the chance toWarriors, a new anthology edited by George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois. If I don't win this I'll probably buy a copy.

Tonight o Coast the thopic is on anthropology and Shamanism. Anthropologist, author and primary investigator of the Early Man sites in Ethiopia. Hank Wesselman will give an update on the latest discoveries in anthropology as well as the oldest and most reliable human technologies for accessing the realms of spirit. Yeah, this is more like it.

The other day a co worker sent me a shared YouTube video. Thanks Lou. Whilst not my musical genre I can appreciate the thought behind it. I sent him (first time doing this) a shared YouTube video of The Modern Lovers "Roadrunner" hehehe.

I was reading over there at New Scientest how Nasa is looking at using inflatable spacecraft etc. This is an initiative of Bigelow a company in Las Vegas and have been developing these technologies for some years now. Art bell had the owner of the company on Coast a year or so ago. Bigelow is looking at a test vehical called "Sundancer." Then they'll launch a node and propusion bus later. Two moduals will provide more room then the entire ISS now. Bigelow hopes to have inflatible moduals in space in about 3-4 years. I've been following this company for ahwile and I like what they are trying to do.

I also heard that Cern at the end of this month is going to crank up the LHC so this is good news. I hope they find the Higs.

And the Oilers were in Chicago last night. They actually took the lead 2-1 there fore awhile but then the hawks came back and won 5-2. Yikes. As long as the Oiler's can keep loosing then we have a good chance of getting some great players next year. The Oiler's in yesterdays Trade deadline dumped about $7M off of their payroll and got a few good players as well. I like the deals the Oiler's got today, good stuff.

My activity in RuneScape seems to have been languishing. I'm looking at playing Dungeons & Dragons online Or DDO as it's called. Not that there are any more players but I might play both as well. One of the guys last week was telling me that I can use toothpaste as a way to clean off scratches of my Oblivion CD. The nice thing about Xbox Live is that you can download an app that lets you save the game your playing to your hard drive. No more swaping and worrying about cleaning disks. I like this idea. Anyway, that's all for now.

I'm trying to get Goodreads to behave and replace

"In the company of others" with "Truth and Steel" an Everquest book. I started this on the 26th and I'm already beyond the halfway point, it's really good. Thomas M. Reid is an excellent writer.

other then that not a lot of things are going on. I've got today off and I'm just relaxing. Anne's home and about to head out to Walmart. I think they're open all night.

There's been some interesting discussion and development going on about the proposed downtown arena/complex. If it happens. If the katz group is going to do this, now is the time to get it done while construction costs are low before the economy turns around again. Construction costs were 30% lower here the same time last year but that window is slowly closing.

I have the day off today and there's an Eskimo/Hamilton game at Commonwealth. That's on at 5pm. I also want to finish the Everquest book this weekend. Or try to.

Finally I have enough cash to get the Ben Bova Omnibus book Sunday. Yes. That's the last of about 4 Omnibus books I had from the big order in the Spring.

At work we've had a tech guy from head office taking out our notepad and other programs because they were a security breech. We're not supposed to have pens or markers or anything at our dialer's. That makes sense. We are doing one of the worst campaigns our company has to offer and thank God it has a 3 weeks left to go. We might break it up with something else, hard to say. Super sent Darrel and Dave (sitting beside my right and left) home early because they couldn't get anything. I ended up with $145 and no cards.

However we had Calgary/Argos CFL game on and I had double or nothing riding on the Argos tenth strait loss at home. Once in a while you've got to go in on a long shot. I bet DC as well so I'm only out $2 and I paid Greg the rest of that $5 for the cable. The game was tied for most of the night and Calgary was leading 23-20. Toronto couldn't get in close enough for a field goal to tie the game.

Anyway gang, that's about all for now.

On the eve of Canada Day

I had a nice day off Sunday getting up at noon. Anne made us a great brunch about 3pm. Surprisingly I only had just one coffee and that was our brunch coffee. Too hot to drink coffee. I had a great afternoon researching Kyoto. I have a better understanding of the protocol then I did earlier. I still don’t agree with it because it’s a sham this cap and trade thing. This whole “global warming” thing is nothing more then junk science. The only thing I do like about it is the carbon tax credits, for stock portfolio’s.

I did my blogging today and a lot of reading on “Pandora’s Star.”

Well, CERN’s LHC is just 7 days away from activation. Next Sunday to be exact. Will they find the Higgs Boson particle? Will they find wormholes? I hope so. I’ve been watching various YouTube videos on the LHC and the scientists are very excited about it. The LHC is 7 times more powerful then Fermi lab (FL) At FL particles for the most part were only able to glance off each other. With the LHC scientists will be able to direct particles more heard on all the time. They claim that the LHC will take them to within seconds of the Big bang revealing particles they’ve never seen before. Maybe the LHC will even create wormholes. It’s quite an exciting time for particle physics.

Anne and I are sharing the last beer. Half a can each is all I need as a mild sedative to get me to sleep. I had the sleeping pill last night and that worked fabulously on me. I had my much needed 8 hours sleep and I even had an hour snooze around 7pm as well Sunday night.

For most people their long weekend began Friday. They had 4 days off. I’d love to have a good 2 weeks off with nothing to do. And to get paid for it as well. If I got my vacation pay today and my pay cheque after taxes I’d have about $500. Anne wants to get that $300 she says “She owes me” from my income tax and with that get myself a nice laptop. I want to save up some money for the Yamaha PSR-S900 keyboard but it’s going to require me to work those extra pizza hours for about 4 months. I’ll be putting my resume in this week anyway. Anne doesn’t mind the hours and I’m going to get my Doctors note to give to Rob I don’t need to work Saturdays and give that to Pizza so I can have my weekends off.

So today it’s off into work for my 4 hours. After that it’s wrestling and I get another day off. I love Canada Day. Then there’s the long hot days of July ahead. I love this warm weather. We only have it for such a short time.

Anyway Bloggers, that‘s all for now
